Popular Posts: Big Boy and Big Girl Rooms

So all of a sudden your 2-year old has figured out how to escape from the confines of the cot, or like in our case, the toddler has to be moved to a bed to make space for the new baby. Now I see myself as pretty experienced now when it comes to nurseries (see Nursery Essentials) but suddenly I have to create a big boy room and I am little bit at a loss. You can really have fun with a toddler’s bedroom: colour, pattern, pictures, anything goes. I am not one for themes; I prefer a room to grow with my kids, which of course just increases the design challenge. Here is some inspiration!

This is just gorgeous – second hand store finds given a new purpose.

Very simple: a bit of colour and an oversize canvass.

What a fab idea to spruce up a wardrobe!

This has to be one of my favourites. Simple, inexpensive but very effective.

If you kids have destroyed a book, you can always salvage what’s left and fame it for an awesome focal.

Shutters as a feature on the wall. Love it.

Have a look at the canopy over the bed!

A great way to feature their art – choose ones that fits the colour scheme and create a little cluster.

I will be putting the final touches on my little guy’s room this month – look out for the pics in Feb!
