I love collecting ceramics – especially the ones with lovely patterns painted on them by hand.
Keep in mind when starting a tile or ceramic collection that to give it longevity you should let it be coherent. Choose a color scheme and play with different patterns within that frame work. This will make it easier when growing your collection.
I found some very inspirational pictures of patterned ceramics from floor tiles to plates that are simply lovely and will explain the rule visually.
Three colors red, blue and white
This beautiful picture by Joanna Henderson is a very modern color combination with a variety of blues and red, broken by subtle splashes of yellow. It’s fresh and I love the bold play with different patterns. Just imagine this set used for a dinner party with lots of tapas and wine!
Pink, black and white in geometric patterns
Scandi-affair with a graphic twist
A lovely collection of red, blue and white plates that will stand the test of time. I love the very intricate pattern vs the more bold graphic ones.
If you are a bit of a purist try this black and white collection where Moroccan patterns sit comfortably next to a more modern stripe.
Singing the blues
I love the retro feel of the patterned plates contrasted with the illustration style lines by Mb art studios. Simple and beautiful.
Keep it very simple by having a set of different patterned blue and white bowls. They make the perfect accessory to a crisp white set. I have bought a box full of Chinese bowls and spoons years ago from a Chinese supermarket that still saves the day at dinner parties to serve sauces or snacks in.
I hope this post will make you look at how you combine your current crockery with a fresh approach and keep give you guidance when buying some new found items.
