Read below what Evert suggests for this challenge:
Having both the dining as well as the lounge in one room we tried to create a more luxurious dining experience by adding a Kentia palm and a collection of Scandinavian inspired mirrors to create a more spacious look to this area. The ceiling to this room will have to be painted white to create more height to this room. The current table is ideal; perhaps replace the chairs with a fabric chair.
The walls to this room have three colours allocated to them, with the walls adjacent to where piano is should be painted in a deep green – garden seat by Plascon. Move the piano at an angle and add a fabric chair with a Scandinavian design to modernize this corner. I have also included an example of a family photo wall; this corner is perfect for it. Keep your frames to a variety of two different design frames. This will create a more modern feel to this corner.
This wall should be painted in a lighter shade of green and I recommend – ocean grotto by Plascon. It’s time to reduce the amount of furniture in this room to a three-seater couch and two lounge chairs as per our furniture mood board. Keep these furniture pieces light and do not cover furniture in loose fabrics. Add a stunning carpet to this room and a coffee table, this will allow you to lose all the side tables. Add a floor lamp to the corner to create soft light to the room. Adding a large art piece to the wall above the couch will add more character to the room. The less clutter against the wall the more spacious this room will be.
I recommend you paint this wall and the wall with the television in the colour – Houri by Plascon. Have eyelet curtains on tension cable tracks installed in a foliage print such as the palms print we added to the mood board.
It is time to have a unit designed and built for all your books, DVD’s, collectables and electronics. This will create a more spacious and less cluttered look to your room. I have added an image of a wall unit for your reference. Happy decorating!!!!
